"Combatting MSA together, until the world is free of MSA"

Strength in Numbers

The MSA United Consortium represents a "United Front." It is built on the principle that by pooling our resources—from fundraising to scientific data—we can move toward a cure faster than any single organisation could alone.

As the Australian representative in this consortium, National MSA Research is committed to ensuring that the progress made in laboratories in the US, Europe, and beyond reaches the doorsteps of the families we support here at home.

Turning the Tide, Together

This isn't just a partnership on paper; it is a promise to every person living with MSA in Australia. You are no longer fighting this diagnosis in a vacuum. You are part of a global movement that is relentless, coordinated, and more determined than ever. Together, we are shifting the focus from "searching for answers" to "delivering results."

As of 2026, the MSA United Consortium is a globally synchronized group of non-profit organisations that operate under a "United Front" model. Each member is volunteer-led and dedicated to the shared Global MSA Research Roadmap.

Here is the current list of the primary member organisations:

North America
  • Defeat MSA Alliance (USA): The founding US-based 501(c)(3) charity.

  • Defeat Multiple System Atrophy / Vaincre L'atrophie Multisystématisée (Canada): Serving the Canadian MSA community in both English and French..

Oceania
  • National MSA Research (Australia): Your organisation, serving as the Australian research and awareness arm.

  • Defeat MSA New Zealand Trust: Providing support and advocacy for the New Zealand community.

Europe
  • Atrofia Multisistémica (Spain): Leading advocacy and support in Spain.

  • Combattiamo L'Atrofia Multisistemica (Italy): The Italian representative in the global fight.

  • National Association of MSA (Denmark): Providing specialised support for the Danish community.

At National MSA Research, we have always believed that the answers to Multiple System Atrophy won’t be found in isolation. To solve a disease this complex and aggressive, we need the brightest minds from across the globe working in perfect sync.

We are proud to announce that National MSA Research has officially joined the MSA United Consortium, a world-leading collective of organisations dedicated to defeating MSA through unified advocacy, patient support, and groundbreaking research.

Why This Matters for Australians

For too long, the MSA community in Australia has felt the weight of this "hidden" disease without a direct line to global clinical advancements. By joining forces with MSA United, we are bridging that gap. This partnership means:

  • Shared Knowledge: Instant access to a global network of researchers, clinicians, and data that accelerates our understanding of the disease.

  • Clinical Synergy: Aligning Australian research efforts with international standards to ensure our local findings contribute to global breakthroughs.

  • A Louder Voice: Adding the Australian perspective to a worldwide movement, ensuring that our patients are represented in global clinical trial planning.
